I appreciate the strawberries because the ones we get from California are picked early for export.  Strawberries don't ripen after they are picked and they are still white inside.  Not as tasty as fully ripened ones.  We have a farm here where you can go and pick your own or buy a basket.

Use to have Heinz!

Heinz did dirty to its workers. I quit buying Heinz products because of this, and so did a lot of others.
The old Heinz factory now makes Frenches mustard, and some other products.
Myself I now use the Frenches brands, nothing more to do with Heinz.

We have lot of pick your own strawberries, blueberries, peppers, etc. We have fresh corn, apples, peaches, peppers, all grown around here.

Today I'm making rhubarb and strawberry pie.  Unfortunately the only strawberries available are from Mexico.  But I guess it helps their farmers to survive.

Man best pie around, sure wish I was close to you, I'd be a knocking on your door with my fork in hand.
Mexico is known for strawberries, they are good. I also lone just plain stewed rhubarb. Enjoy every bit of that pie, including the little pieces left in the pie plate.

The pie turned out well.  For the crust I used Sherrif pie crust mix.
Al you have to do is add butter and ice water and it makes two crusts.
I'm freezing individual pieces for later.  And yes rhubarb pie by itself is good as well.

Ever buy the pie shells already made. You can freeze them, take out when needed. Two sheets, makes one pie top and bottom or two topless pies.

Thanks for the tip.  I finally mastered making my own pie crusts.  But in a pinch I can try those. Pillsbury makes good stuff.

I always keep a package in the freezer, comes in handy.

I went to the farmers market on Saturday.  Local farmers bring their wares into town into a two storey building.  There really is a huge selection of fresh food.  But it's not inexpensive.  I ended up buying two small plants for my window sill.  Rosemary and chives.  And I bought Gouda cheese with dill for casual eating with olives. Today I'm making habitant split pea soup from scratch.

Great, also my favourite soup.

And today after struggling and replacing a zipper on a pair of shorts which consumed all of three hours at least.  I put the shorts on and had lunch and spilled syrup on them so of course they have to be washed.  Have you ever had a pair of bad luck pants that they seem to attract trouble the minute you put them on?

No bad luck pants, so far. My problem is spilling on my shirt or t=shirts.

Making pie dough this morning, got a pot of chili on the stove now.

Peter if you don't see or hear from me, it's because I have things to do outside, grass cutting takes me two days to do a 30-minute job, it is a real task just to cut some grass. Now I am in the process, of painting, the bacl porch needs scrapping, primed and painted. I also need to take the window shutters down scrap and sand a little, then paint, put them back up when paint is dry.

Bought the paint and primer a month ago, but keep putting it off. Being old now and over weight I feel it. Tough doing work around the place.

I understand.  I have the same problem with time and motivation.  Everything takes twice as long to accomplish.  We have covered a ton of topics so I'll just wait for you to post whenever you have time.  It's been great.

Peter, you also can post. I visit every day, but not at the same times. I do check in daily regardless.
